According to GoForth's National Entrepreneurship Sentiment Survey, the biggest challenge facing those who want to start a small business (nascent entrepreneurs) is how to operate and manage a small business.
You're passionate about your small business, and so are we. So passionate, in fact, that we've teamed up with Vision Critical™ to take the pulse of our nation's entrepreneurs twice yearly. With GoForth's National Entrepreneurship Sentiment Survey™ you can see what other entrepreneurs are saying about their business, their plans for the future, our economy, and where the opportunities are for success. It's real advice you can use, whether you have a start up business or are a seasoned entrepreneur.

Some highlights of the Fall 2009 National Entrepreneurship Sentiment Survey™ include:
  • The economy has heavily influenced entrepreneurs over the past year with 59% indicating a drop in business income.
  • However, the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well - nearly 40% of our nation's entrepreneurs expect to sell more products/services in the next 12 months.
  • Gender plays a role in entrepreneurship in Canada - females are more likely to have a home-based business, have fewer employees, have less desire to grow their business, and be more concerned about income than their male counterparts.
  • The greatest concern of those thinking of starting a small business in Canada was their ability to develop business skills and operational knowledge.
  • Income instability is agreed to be the greatest challenge of being an entrepreneur today.
