Where do your customers hang out online? Twitter? Facebook? LinkedIn? You Tube?You can arrange to be a presence on those sites too. Caution: don't try to sell, but offer them great advice and maybe even discounts on your products or services.Social networking is a full-time responsibility and needs a proper strategy - what messages, where, when, by whom. If done badly, your brand can actually suffer as your tactics may leave a bad taste in people's mouths.
One perspective is the potential of word of mouth through social media. Instead of trying to target 10,000 people with a Google adwords campaign, engage 10 people and/or groups of your target market, who each have a reach of 1,000 or more people in their networks and let them spread the word for you. If they find value in what you are offering them / the group, they will tell their friends.
