People Management
- I'm working fulltime and starting a small business on the side - should I tell my employer?

People ManagementIn this economy, it's a really good idea to have multiple income streams. Regarding your question, here are a few things to think about:
Did you sign an employment contract that prevents you from "moonlighting" or working part-time elsewhere? If so, you are in breach of that contract.
What would be the consequences if your employer found out the hard way?
Is your part-time business a competitor to your fulltime employer? If so, that's clearly a conflict of interest.
What would be the consequences if you told your employer?
Is there precedent set by other people at your job to work part-time? This could help pave the way for you.
If you think that there may be legal issues regarding your part-time work, you should seek the advice of a lawyer before you approach your boss
